Before I was a teacher, I was a writer. It is still a part of my God-given calling (and I still intend to write a book one day). However, I do not have nearly as much time for it as I used to. Still, I credit most of my creativity in lessons and units to time as a writer.
When I was sixteen, I prayed fervently about what God wanted me to do with my life and whether or not I would go to college. God gave me an answer in the form of Psalm 45:1 KJV – My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
I’ve always had a love for reading, and I believe God decided to use this for what I consider my ultimate calling: to inspire others to serve God.
My goals is the classroom have always been reflective of my goals for writing.
While being a good, Christian role model, I also want to make learning fun, and to get kids excited. Although some people will never consider reading fun, I want to write non-boring stories that impact people. The world is full of books, and most do not even make mention of God, let alone his greatness and all he has done for people. My purpose for sharing is not simply to share, but to encourage others to not give up on that idea or dream given to them of God to help make the world a better place.
Some of writings shared on this site were written from the heart, inspired by grief, written for class assignments (because yes, I ended up attending college ultimately to become a writer), and several got published in magazines and short story anthologies while others have not ever been shared before.
Although this is not the intention of this website, if you do decide to take a look at my creative writings (poetry and fiction), I hope you enjoy them!
